In our latest Android release, we've added player branding customization. Issues with OnAdLoadedXmlListener have been resolved.

New Feature

The LogoConfig API enables customizing the player's appearance with a branding image.

Bug Fix

Adding a listener for OnAdLoadedXmlListener no longer causes the player to throw a fatal error.

Studio DRM now supports DASH trick play, meeting Roku's standards. Only media post-23 August 2023 has this feature.

New Feature

Studio DRM with JW Platform now supports trick play in DASH streams and adheres to Roku's trick mode requirements. All DRM customers are automatically entitled to trick play support. 

Only media uploaded after Wednesday, 23 August 2023, will have trick play tiles. 

Media uploaded before 23 August 2023 will not have trick play tiles added.

With the release of JW 8.28.0, new features include adding a showAdMarkers property for ad display control, improvements to playlist filtering (except when doNotTrack is enabled), and new accessibility shortcuts in JWP. Bug fixes address video resizing in Safari and a Freewheel capability flags issue.

New Features

• A new property called showAdMarkers has been added to the timeSlider configuration object, allowing ad markers to be displayed or removing them and introducing a new ad countdown element that appears 5 seconds before a mid-roll (as shown in the release note image above).
• The source asset has been filtered out of the Recommended playlists. If doNotTrack is enabled in the browser, no filtering occurs.
• JWP supports new accessibility keyboard shortcuts to increase caption size (+) and decrease caption size (-).

Bug Fixes

• Videos display correctly resized on both desktop and mobile versions of Safari.
• An issue related to properly adding custom capability flags for Freewheel has been addressed.

In this release, we have introduced enhancements to the player functionality, including the exposure of the raw VAST XML string and synchronization of the scrub bar with the current playlist.

New Feature

When playing ads, the player surfaces the on('adLoadedXml') event, which exposes the raw VAST XML string in the parameter xml.

Bug Fix

The scrub bar synchronizes with the current playlist on the initial load when casting is active.

The SDK now supports the tracking of and reporting on analytics data, loading captions from a JSON config, and simpler debugging for the Offline Playback BPA.

New Features

• Specifying a playerId allows the SDK to track analytics data and create custom reports.
• The player can now load caption styles from the config.
• The Offline Playback BPA now uses relative paths to simplify debugging between a device and a simulator.
• The GoogleIMA SDK has been upgraded to version 3.18.4.
• With the addition of the .loadedXML and .loaded event types, the raw VAST XML string (JWAdEventKey.xml) and the ad load time (JWEventKey.timeLoading) can be accessed through the JWAdDelegate.

The Trade Desk is now a Player Bidding ad partner and support for additional Player Bidding bid request information has been added.

• The Trade Desk is now a new Player Bidding ad partner that can be added to an on-page player configuration or a dashboard ad schedule. 
• Player Bidding bid requests pass the Google Publisher Identifier (GPID) field.
• Player Bidding bid requests pass a plcmt value that can be defined in the on-page player configuration or in the dashboard ad schedule.

The SDK now supports the tracking of and reporting on analytics data and displays the buffering icon when the player buffers on the initial load.

In this latest release, we've upgraded the Open Measurement SDK and addressed player deallocation and JWCue initialization issues.

New Release

The Open Measurement SDK has been upgraded to version 1.4.4.

Bug Fixes

• The player can be deallocated on a background thread while using the GoogleIMA ad client.
• JWCue initializes correctly in both Objective-C and Swift.

With this release, DNS masking is deprecated for some users.

Deprecation

DNS masking support has been removed from JW Platform. Current customers who are actively using DNS masking will continue to have access to the feature until further notice.

With this release, we have improved the seek bar user experience.

Bug Fix

The seek bar appears at the end of the control bar after a post-roll completes.
