• Tags: These are rows of data containing all the tags for a given media item.
• Media custom parameters: These are rows of data containing all the custom parameters for a given media item.
• Media: These are rows of data containing all of the media in your JWP account.

With this release, Airplay devices are listed based on content type, the FeedTableView BPA has been improved, and several bug fixes have been addressed.

New Features

• The Airplay device selection menu now orders devices based on the loaded media type: video devices are listed before audio devices when playing video. Audio devices are listed before video devices when playing audio-only media.
• The FeedTableView BPA keeps the player state in sync while scrolling through the feed.

Bug Fixes

• The Picture-In-Picture BPA displays correctly in landscape mode.
• The Airplay button uses the airplayvideo icon when video is played.
• The caption insets feature now also works for the JWPlayerView of a JWPlayerViewController.
• The player remains active after closing the playlist view even when configured in a modally.
• The description of a media item is displayed correctly when the player is presented modally.

With JWP's new content types feature, you can easily add and manage content using preset schemas.

Content types offer you a variety of benefits: 

• Simplified workflow: Enter media data using logical forms
• Series & Hubs: Use complex structures like series and content hubs in combination with JWP-certified app partners and our open-source Web App
• Avoid errors: Metadata is type-checked and has a dedicated UI

New feature

Content types allow you to classify media using shared custom parameters. To get started, you can load JWP-created default content types to the dashboard. Default content types include the following:

• Movie
• Series
• Episode
• Live Channel
• Live Event
• Trailer
• Hub
• Static Page

Additionally, you can contact your JWP representative to help you create custom content types that are tailored to your needs.

JW 8.31.0 adds loadAdTag(), deprecates playAd(), and enhances loadAdXml method. Additionally, various bugs have been addressed.

New Features

• Support has been added for starting ads from VAST payloads with the loadAdXml().
• The loadAdTag method replaces the deprecated playAd() .

Bug Fixes

• The playAd method now correctly triggers adBreakStart and adBreakEnd.
• Hotspots appear while non-linear ads are displayed.
• Enabling generateSEOMetadata allows Google to index video key moments in all cases.
• Custom labels populate correctly in the GA4 plugin.
• Interactivity no longer causes a black screen for subsequent playlist items.
• The player displays companion banners containing script tags.

A fix for bid requests has been released.

Bug Fix

In Player Bidding, the advertising.bids.settings.consentManagement.usp configuration correctly appears in bid requests.

Easily transfer custom parameters and tags to a new video clip.

New Feature

You can now effortlessly copy custom parameters and tags from the original media to a new video clip. This enhancement helps maintain consistency and saves time in the content creation process.

When creating the new video clip, click the Copy tags and custom parameters to the new clip checkbox.

The latest update transitions ExoPlayer to the Media3 library and includes several bug fixes.

New Feature

This significant release migrates to the new home for ExoPlayer inside the Media3 library. We have removed the deprecated ExoPlayer2 library from the SDK. 

⚠️ If you are using ExoPlayer alongside our SDK, only implement this update if you are comfortable upgrading your ExoPlayer library to version 1.1.1 of the Media3 library. 

Bug Fixes

• When content playback is complete, only the player controls appear.
• Casting device text no longer overlaps controls.
• If the Learn More link is invalid, no browser will open when Learn More is tapped.

Broadcast Live now enables scheduled live streams up to 24 hours with advanced features and automatic VOD conversion.

You can now easily schedule Live Event streams from your JW dashboard with Broadcast Live. 

This new feature offers several key benefits:

• Live, time-bound event streams capable of durations of 5 minutes to 24 hours
• Dedicated infrastructure for each live event
• Automatic generation of a live2vod recording when the live event ends
• Support for the same advanced features as Broadcast Live 24/7, such as multiple ingest formats, multi-region design, DRM, SSAI, and multi-language support

Your Consent Management Platforms (CMP) settings just got easier with disableConsentManagementOnNoCmp. Designed for regions where GDPR is not applicable, this setting ensures that Player Bidding adapts its user privacy and compliance if a CMP does not return a tcfapi() value.

Bug Fixes

We resolved a Player Bidding issue where player configurations using autostart failed to send bids with the correct video.playbackmethod in prebid requests. This fix ensures improved accuracy and compliance in our Player Bidding system.
