The usage cards have been removed, and a new usage data metric is now available.

• Removing the usage cards on both the JW dashboard homepage and the Current Reported Usage page has improved the page performance of both pages. All usage metrics can be viewed and downloaded from the Usage History table.
• A new SSAI usage metric has been added to the Usage History table: SSAI Ad Insertions.

Geoblocking is now available for live streams.

New Feature

Geoblocking is now supported for live streams, allowing you to restrict live content to viewers in certain countries:

• You can select a geoblocking rule when creating a live 24/7 channel or live event stream. 
• Geoblocking rules applied to a live stream will be displayed in the stream details section. 

This latest player release ensures continuous visibility of poster images and addresses issues relating to VMAP ad schedule ad breaks and DASH audio selector labels.

New Feature

• Poster and thumbnail images persist until content or ads begin playback.

Bug Fixes

• VMAP schedules using the IMA plug-in play all subsequent playlist items with the expected ad breaks.
• DASH support now correctly displays labels in the audio selector.

JWP is removing the MRSS video URL parameter from import and output feeds.

Deprecation

As of 5 March 2024, the mrss_video_url parameter will no longer be added to imported MRSS feeds and will not appear in MRSS or JSON output feeds containing new imports.

To keep this parameter in future feed imports or to remove it from previous imports, contact JW Support.

With this release, player stability has been improved during setup and with background media handling.

Bug Fixes

• The player no longer becomes null before the player setup.
• The player handles background media without crashing.

Enterprise customers can now manage multiple properties in their dashboard, segmenting video libraries, settings, and analytics.

New Feature

As of today, all Enterprise customers have the ability to create and manage multiple properties in their dashboards:

• Enabling you to segment your video library, player and app settings, and analytics into discrete buckets. 
• Allowing you to grant users and API keys access to these buckets.

Previously, this was only available to customers that used JWP for VOD streaming.

There are now more management options for your primary and alternate audio tracks, making it easier to deliver accessible content tailored to your audience’s needs.

New Features 

• Upload alternate audio tracks for DRM-protected media.
• Edit the names, language, and ISO language codes of default audio tracks for both DRM and non-DRM media using the v2 Management API.
  
  NOTE: Currently, these editing options are only available for newly uploaded media. JWP will soon enable you to edit names, language, and ISO language codes for older default audio tracks. 

The JW Platform now allows you to better manage and promote your media items with alternate images.

This enhancement enables you to upload, label, and manage multiple thumbnails for each media item, tailoring your presentation to meet platform and viewer needs. 

New Feature

Easily manage and promote your media with alternate images:

• Upload up to 20 high-resolution images per video
• Support various formats up to a file size of 50 MB
• Dynamically resize thumbnails upon request to display clear images

• Tags: These are rows of data containing all the tags for a given media item.
• Media custom parameters: These are rows of data containing all the custom parameters for a given media item.
• Media: These are rows of data containing all of the media in your JWP account.

With this release, Airplay devices are listed based on content type, the FeedTableView BPA has been improved, and several bug fixes have been addressed.

New Features

• The Airplay device selection menu now orders devices based on the loaded media type: video devices are listed before audio devices when playing video. Audio devices are listed before video devices when playing audio-only media.
• The FeedTableView BPA keeps the player state in sync while scrolling through the feed.

Bug Fixes

• The Picture-In-Picture BPA displays correctly in landscape mode.
• The Airplay button uses the airplayvideo icon when video is played.
• The caption insets feature now also works for the JWPlayerView of a JWPlayerViewController.
• The player remains active after closing the playlist view even when configured in a modally.
• The description of a media item is displayed correctly when the player is presented modally.
