JWP 8.36.4 introduces multiple player improvements.

New Features

• Keyboard and UI accessibility features have been improved.
• AirPlay and Casting support on iOS 18 has been enabled.

Dynamic Strategy Rules now include unsaved change alerts, better trigger validation, and precise content-to-ads ratios. We’ve also addressed several bugs.

New Features

• Dynamic Strategy Rules pages now alert you about unsaved changes, prompting you to save before leaving.
• In the Dynamic Strategy Rules Library, the Partnership Experience now displays Media Curation settings in a read-only view.

• Within a trigger, the Switch to Partnership Experience action now includes validation rules for proper setup:

  • If the Trigger type is Advertising and the Trigger event is Ad no fill, the Event trigger conditions must be set to Ad Position Is Pre.
  • By default, the Remove Player action is part of the Switch to Partnership Experience action. It does not need to be added manually.
• Dynamic Ads ad rules now allow setting the Content to ads ratio with precision to one decimal place.
• Media conditions are now exclusively available within Event trigger conditions.
• Triggers can only be added after a JW video experience in a strategy tree.

Bug Fixes

• In the Dynamic Strategy Rules Library, existing JWP players can be located and imported when creating a new player UX.
• In the Dynamic Strategy Rules Library, links to documentation open in a new tab.
• On the Placements page, placements require a name for creation.
• On the Playlist tab of a Media curation page, the Type: Single media dropdown list displays correctly.

The JW Platform now automatically extracts all audio tracks from your originally uploaded VOD media or live streams converted to VOD.

New Feature

JWP auto-extracts additional audio tracks from VOD media or converted live streams with multiple audio tracks. You can delete these tracks or edit their metadata via the dashboard or Management API. You can also manually upload additional audio tracks to associate with the media item.

We're excited to introduce the Dynamic Strategy Rules partnership experience. This new feature simplifies player and content management for JWP and Connatix customers.

This release addresses issues related to non-HLS content loading and fullscreen mode on iPhone XR (iOS 15).

Bug Fixes

• (iPhone XR) In fullscreen mode, the player remains within the boundaries of the screen.
• Non-HLS content loads without delays in low-network situations.

With the JW Platform's inline workflow, you can now continue working throughout the dashboard while your media uploads or registers. 

New Features

The new workflow provides users with enhanced flexibility and control over the upload process:

• Navigate the dashboard during upload
• Add tags, custom parameters, and content types to media during upload
• Monitor upload progress in real-time

iOS SDK 4.21.0 introduces improved captions handling and multiple bug fixes.

New Feature

• The player now ignores side-loaded captions if a video already includes embedded captions, preventing duplicate entries in the captions menu.

Bug Fixes

• The Google IMA dependency has been updated to v3.22.1, resolving a bug that affected project builds in the Xcode Simulator.
• The player no longer pauses or crashes during video seeking.
• nextUpPlaylistIndex now correctly respects 0 as the first video in the playlist.

 Broadcast Live now allows stream metadata to be retained when using the Live Clipping feature.

New Feature

Tags and custom parameters from Broadcast Live streams can be copied to new clips created with the Live Clipping functionality. This feature helps organize and search content easily and is useful when working with dynamic playlists. 

To provide a more streamlined experience, JWP's updated captions editor will fully replace the legacy captions editor.

Deprecation

The legacy captions editor will be deprecated on 13 January 2025 and is no longer supported. Please use the updated editor in the JWP dashboard.

Broadcast Live has improved support for static ingest points, DVR functionality, and Live2VOD for OTT Apps.

New Features

• Static ingest points can now be applied to 24/7 live channels. 
• DVR can now be enabled on SSAI properties. Read more about how DVR functionality behaves on SSAI-enabled properties.
• For OTT Apps, the publish date of the Live2VOD media can now be updated to match the event's start date once the stream has started. Broadcast Live will no longer automatically make changes to the publish date beyond the stream start.
