JW Player has just released v4.7.0 for the iOS SDK. The notes for this release appear below. If you have any questions about a release note, please contact your JWP representative.

New Releases

• Support for ARM64 simulators. Note that the Google Cast SDK and Googel IMA SDK are not supported when running in the ARM64 simulator environment.
• JWPlayerViewController has a new property: handleCastingInternally. If set to false, a ChromeCast session will not be initialized by the SDK, instead the session must be initialized by the developer. By default, this value is true.
• The behavior of playback on external devices can be configured or disabled using JWExternalPlaybackSettings. This object can be created using JWExternalPlaybackSettingsBuilder, and set in JWPlayerConfigurationBuilder.
• Caption rendering can be disabled by setting JWPlayer.suppressesCaptionRendering to true. Caption events are still reported even if rendering is suppressed. By default this value is false.
• When using JWPlayerViewController, additional controls may be hidden: full screen button, languages button (audio and captions), and the settings button.
• When using Google IMA, the ad impression event populates the following new information in JWAdImpression: adId, creativeId, and creativeAdId.

In v8.26.0, we've added support for our player plugin code and released several fixes.

• Added support for our player plugin code to recognize URL query string parameters/variables.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed an issue that caused Page Insights to load one of our providers' javascripts when it wasn't needed.
• Fixed an issue where if setControls was set to false the player would error when switching playlist items.
• Fixed an issue that could cause the horizontal volume bar to be unusable during ad playback.
• Fixed an issue with the DAI control bar that caused the volume bar to be unusable.

New Features

• Picture In Picture is now available as a setting.
• An option to view and edit a player’s JSON configurations has been added.
• SDK v3 downloads are no longer accessible via the dashboard.
• The SEO option for embedding has moved from the embed side panel to a player-level setting.

New Releases

Custom Reports was updated to more clearly indicate the 2 different download options:

• Export as CSV is for downloading a .csv file of the graph's data into a table format.
• Download Table is for downloading the displayed results table.

• Custom Report scheduling has been updated to allow users to define their desired delivery time.
• Custom Report filters now have a Clear Dates button when using a custom time range to make it easier to pick a new time range.

Bug Fix

• Fixed an issue in Custom Reports where the complete rate displayed in the table was incorrectly rounded.
