Extended Cue Support for Broadcast Live

We’ve expanded support for SCTE-35 cue types to give you greater flexibility and control when signaling ad breaks in SSAI-enabled live streams.

New Feature

Broadcast Live now supports an extended range of segmentation_type_id values for SCTE-35 time_signal() commands. These additional cue types provide more granular ad break signaling across provider and distributor insertions, giving Broadcast Live greater precision and seamless integration with SSAI workflows and downstream ad servers.

Supported segmentation_type_id values include:

HexDecimalDescription
0x2234Break Start
0x2335Break End
0x3048Provider Advertisement Start
0x3149Provider Advertisement End
0x3250Distributor Advertisement Start
0x3351Distributor Advertisement End

SRT Passphrases for Live Streams

We have introduced a new security option to help you protect your Broadcast Live ingest points.

New Feature

You can now set a Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) passphrase when creating or managing live streams. This passphrase acts as a secret key that ensures only authorized source encoders can send content to your SRT ingest point.

SRT passphrases can be configured directly through the Dashboard UI or via the API.

This update enables you to:

  • Set an optional SRT passphrase when creating a stream
  • Add a passphrase to a scheduled stream created without one
  • Edit or delete a passphrase in a scheduled stream before provisioning

By securing your SRT ingest with a passphrase, you can prevent unauthorized access and maintain greater control over your Broadcast Live setup.

Broadcast Live Improvements

We’ve updated the Broadcast Live UI for a cleaner, more intuitive dashboard experience. We also fixed a DVR bug to enhance your stream previews.

New Features

Creating a Broadcast Live stream is now simpler, with improved support for simulcasting and advanced settings.

For more information, learn how to create a Broadcast Live stream.

Bug Fixes

When previewing a Broadcast Live stream, the DVR is now cleared to prevent viewers from scrubbing back to any content that occurred before the stream went live.

Live Monitoring Page

We have released a new page to help you monitor your live streams.

New Feature

Broadcast Live now includes a Live monitoring page that provides a real-time, consolidated view of all active and preview mode streams across a property. The multi-view interface allows you to track stream status, content playback, and stream details at a glance, helping you efficiently manage multiple streams.

This updates enables you to:

  • Quickly identify and resolve playback or delivery issues
  • Confirm that scheduled events start as expected
  • Ensure uninterrupted live stream delivery

Higher Frame Rate Support for Live Streaming

Broadcast Live now supports higher frame rates for fast-paced content.

New Feature

Broadcast Live now supports higher frame rates of 50fps and 60fps. This enhancement delivers improved video quality for fast-moving content — such as sports — providing smoother, more lifelike visuals and enabling slow-motion playback without loss of clarity.

Notes:

  • To enable 50fps or 60fps, contact your account manager to increase this limit.
  • Since higher frame rates require more bandwidth, we recommend increasing your bitrate when streaming at 50fps or 60fps.
  • By default, live streaming profiles support up to 30fps.
