Improved playlist data and search capabilities

We've updated how playlists rank, recommend, and search for content, improving playlist experiences across web, OTT, and streaming workflows.

New Features

  • Dynamic playlists now use CDN data for Plays and Trending rankings, making these sort types available for OTT experiences.
  • Related playlists now use CDN data for the co-watching layer, improving related content suggestions in OTT apps.
  • Search playlists can now search custom parameters using the use_params option. We've also improved exact matching, prefix searches, and case sensitivity.

Embed Seen Metric Added to Data Sharing Analytics

You can now retrieve the embed_seen metric in select Data Sharing datasets.

New Feature

The embed_seen metric represents the number of times an embed was viewable at least once during a session. This metric can now be included when querying data through Data Sharing for the following datasets:

  • Strategy Rules Placement Daily
  • Play Session Daily
  • Play Session Monthly Aggregates

Vertical Video Carousel Analytics Update

Analytics for vertical video carousels will change starting May 1, 2026.

Vertical video carousels are now treated as previews and are no longer counted toward user engagement. Removing this passive exposure from metrics provides a more accurate measure of engagement.

As a result, embed, play, and complete counts will decrease.

Metrics changes

The following metrics will be calculated differently, resulting in lower counts.

Player embeds

  • A single embed is recorded when the placement script loads on the page, whether it is for a vertical video carousel or single vertical video player.

Plays and completes

  • In carousel display mode, only full-screen playback is tracked.
  • In single player display mode, plays and completes are tracked in both the initial embed and full-screen.

  • Ad insertion custom reports: Create and customize reports to analyze ad impressions, completions, delivery performance, and viewer engagement across your content.
  • Prebuilt report templates: Quickly get started with templates like Top Countries, Top Devices, Top Media, and Daily Totals.
  • Daily report scheduling: Automatically generate and deliver reports on a daily basis to keep stakeholders informed.
  • Ad insertion dataset (Data Sharing): Access a comprehensive SSAI dataset with detailed fields for ad requests, VAST responses, playback events, device data, and geographic insights.
