Direct URLs for captions and legacy captions editor are restored.

Bug Fixes

• We have added back the Direct URL for a caption track to the captions editor. To access the direct URL for a specific caption track, click ⋯ > Edit from the Captions page.
• The legacy captions editor is available again. To access the legacy edit for a specific caption track, click ⋯ > Open Legacy Editor from the Captions page.

In this release, we've introduced Swift Package Manager as an integration option alongside our existing options and boosted JWPlayerKit's playlist control. Plus, we've addressed stability issues with GoogleIMA streams and Google Cast casting.

New Features

• The iOS SDK supports the Swift Package Manager, allowing you to easily add, remove, and update the JWPlayerKit Swift package within your projects.
• JWPlayerKit's setPlaylistItemCallback(_:) method allows you to customize and control playlist items, allowing you to modify or skip a given item, and even run your own asynchronous code. 

Bug Fixes

• GoogleIMA DAI live streams load without a player failure.
• Ending casting to a Google Cast device no longer causes a player failure.

We've updated the Media Details page to enhance your experience and efficiency. For users with alternate images beta entitlement, all media-level Images, Tracks, and Assets are now conveniently located below the media preview player. Contact your JWP representative to request entitlement. 

Users without alternate images entitlement will find media-level Thumbnails, Tracks, and Assets under the preview player.

New Feature

The Media Details page is your new one-stop-shop to view and manage all media-level resources.

1. From the Media Library, select a media item. The Media Details page appears. 
2. Below the preview player, click the Images (Thumbnails), Tracks, or Assets tabs to access related resources. 

With this release, you can customize how you share media, and tag management has shifted from the former Tags page to the Media Library.

New Feature

Now, when sharing a link to your media, you can select which player to use.

You may not have known this. Did you know you could generate shareable links from within your JW dashboard?

1. On the Media Library page, hover over a media item.
2. Click the Share icon.
3. Copy the Share Link.

Deprecation

The Tags page is no longer available in the dashboard as of 18 September 2023. Please use the Media Library for tag management, tag filtering, and searching by tags.

In this latest release, the created date now appears in the dashboard, allowing sorting by date, advanced search filtering, and displays on Media Details page.

New Feature

The Created date is when a media item was uploaded to the JW Platform. This value now appears in the dashboard. This enhancement enables the following:

• Within your Media Library, you can now sort media items by their creation date.
• In Advanced Search, you can filter media items within a specific creation date range.
• Each media item's creation date prominently appears in the Media Summary section on its Media Details page.

In JW 8.28.1, we've updated hlsjs and corrected a floating bug.

New Feature

• HLS.js (hlsjs) has been updated to ver. 1.4.10.

Bug Fix

• When using setFloating, the float functionality now works during ad breaks.

With this release, we've made it easier for you to manage tags and enhanced the visibility of your media item status in Manual Playlists. 

New Features

• You can now bulk add and remove tags in batches of up to 50 media items by using the Manage Tags panel in your Media Library. For batches greater than 50 items, use the v2 Management API to bulk remove tags. Bulk renaming of tags can only be done via the API. 
• Media items in Manual Playlists now display a label indicating whether a media item is scheduled or has expired.

In our latest Android release, we've added player branding customization. Issues with OnAdLoadedXmlListener have been resolved.

New Feature

The LogoConfig API enables customizing the player's appearance with a branding image.

Bug Fix

Adding a listener for OnAdLoadedXmlListener no longer causes the player to throw a fatal error.

Studio DRM now supports DASH trick play, meeting Roku's standards. Only media post-23 August 2023 has this feature.

New Feature

Studio DRM with JW Platform now supports trick play in DASH streams and adheres to Roku's trick mode requirements. All DRM customers are automatically entitled to trick play support. 

Only media uploaded after Wednesday, 23 August 2023, will have trick play tiles. 

Media uploaded before 23 August 2023 will not have trick play tiles added.
