Frame-accurate capture for Live and VOD workflows
The Management API v2 now supports frame-accurate capture across supported Live and VOD workflows. Clips and live-to-VOD conversions can begin and end on the precise frames you select, reducing unwanted padding and the need to re-cut captured content.
New Features
Frame-accurate capture is available for the following workflows:
- Live-to-VOD conversion: Live-to-VOD conversions processed through either the Traditional VOD or CMAF VOD workflow now produce frame-accurate output.
- Live clipping: Create frame-accurate Traditional VOD or CMAF VOD clips from live streams using the live create clip endpoint.
- CMAF VOD clipping: Create frame-accurate clips from CMAF VOD media using the VOD create clip endpoint.
Limitations
- AVC (H.264) content only: Frame-accurate capture is not currently supported for HEVC content. For CMAF VOD media with mixed manifests containing both AVC and HEVC renditions, JWX uses segment-accurate capture.
- Whole-frame boundaries: If a requested trim or clip point falls on a fractional frame, JWX rounds it to the nearest whole frame.
- Traditional VOD editing: Trimming and clipping existing Traditional VOD media remains segment-accurate.
NOTE: These frame-accurate workflows are currently available only through the Management API v2. The dashboard trimming and clipping tools do not yet fully support frame-accurate capture.
